Success at the Sommelier Wine Awards

Three Argento wines have been awarded medals at the UK’s prestigious Sommelier Wine Awards 2013.

Argento BSM 2011 – Silver Medal
New World: Other red varietals & blends
‘With red and black berries alongside liquorice notes, the palate is lightly grassy, with good acidity and supple red fruits on the finish,’ said Luigi Buonanno of Etrusca Restaurants. ‘Soft, grippy, lively and floral,’ added team leader Simon Woods.

Esquinas de Argento 2011 – Silver Medal
Varietal Classics: Argentine Malbec – <�£12 ex-VAT
‘A pretty, well-rounded palate, with dark ripe fruits, sweet vanilla and hints of black pepper and rosemary,’ said Zuma’s Laura Blanchett, adding ‘It is well balanced and not too heavy, An excellent all-round example.’

Argento Selección Malbec 2012 – Bronze Medal
Varietal Classics: Argentine Malbec – <�£12 ex-VAT
‘Sweet oak with a complex mix of spices – cinnamon, nutmeg, cumin, fennel and coriander – alongside fine bramble fruit, sweet tannins and a touch of liquorice,’ noted Coq d’Argent’s Olivier Marie.
